Get Ready With Me: Spring Ball

Get Ready With Me: Spring Ball
Here's a run-down of what I decided to wear to my Spring Ball. Admittedly, this look would probably be more suited to a winter ball, but I didn't go to mine so I guess I'm making up for it now!
I was inspired by this Lisa Eldridge video to go for a cranberry eye and pale lip. I used the Beauty UK Amazon 2 palette which I got a while ago from Superdrug. They were running a 3-for-2 offer, so I got it along with two Beauty UK High Brow Kits.  I also got the chance to try out my new Maybelline Brow Drama. I finished off the eyes with lashings of Mary Kay's Lash Love mascara. I kept the lips simple by applying MUA's Out There Lip Plumping Gloss in the shade 'Buff'.
My jumpsuit, as you may know, is from Topshop (it was in the January sale and is no longer available unfortunately) and I paired it with my pink Kandi Courts from Office. I finished Off the outfit by accessorising with my Michael Kors watch and a studded phone clutch from Topshop.

Some pictures from the night...

I had a great time, and THOROUGHLY enjoyed the free candy floss and popcorn that was on offer all night.

I hope this gives you some ideas for any big events you have coming up. Let me know if you'd like to see a step-by-step picture tutorial of the entire look!

Thrifty Thursday - AllBeauty

I have always been the type to shop around before I buy something. Now that I'm a student, it's even more important for me to make sure I'm getting a good deal. I've decided that each week I'm going to try and share some tips and tricks that will hopefully save you a few pennies too. This week I'm sharing one of my favourite cosmetics websites - allbeauty.com
Thrifty Thursday

Allbeauty..com (formerly cheapsmells.com) sells thousands of products from well known brands, at well under the RRP. I have bought perfumes from them a few times, one of my favourites being Fantasy by Britney Spears. Smaller volumes of Fantasy can cost £20+ elsewhere, but I bought a 100ml Eau De Parfum and Body Souffle gift set from allbeauty for around £21 a few months back. It is unfortunately no longer available, but The 100ml fragarance alone is still under £20, and there is a 100ml Hidden Fantasy gift set currently going for £13.95 - bargain!
As well as perfumes, you can get many other items - foundations, fake tan, lip balms, nail polishes and hair products - all for amazing prices.
They currently have the Real techniques Starter Set for just £14.25, which I have my eye on...

Have you shopped with allbeauty before? What's your favourite budget beauty site?

Just a note - post is in no way affiliated with allbeauty, I just think the website is great and thought you would too! x

*UPDATE* Allbeauty have now started charging £1.50 for delivery of orders under £15. Delivery for orders over £15 is free.

In the spirit on 90s revivals, it seems co-ordinated outfits are back! Nothing says 90s like a Clueless-style coordinated skirt-suit. This classic style is given a modern makeover with funky cuts and patterns. Shop some of my favourite co-ordinates below!

One of my favourite things about these pieces is that you can mix and match them to create different looks. What's your favourite co-ordinating outfit?

Alternative gifts

What do you get for the person who has everything? A great alternative (or addition) to any gift is a charity donation. Sites such as OxfamGood Gifts and Save the Children enable you to buy items that will help people in less developed countries, such as baby kits, books, stationery and even goats! Oxfam is currently offering free earrings or chocolate when you purchase a mothers day-themed charity gift. You can usually also get a customisable e-card or gift card telling the recipient what you've bought on their behalf.

So there you go! Lots of different options to suit any budget this Mothers' Day. Do you have any plans for Mothers' Day yet?

This or That

This or That

I'm attending a spring ball at my uni, and I need your help! I'm currently deciding between these two outfits.I have to admit, I'm leaning slightly more towards the Topshop jumpsuit, but I thought it would be interesting to get your input. The jumpsuit isn't as spring-y as the pastel dress, but it's a bit different to what you'd normally expect to see at such an event, and that's why I like it. The pastel shift dress on the other hand, whilst plain, is a nice cut and length.

Which outfit do you prefer? Let me know in the comments!

Spring Cleaning

I've randomly just entered a competition on Polyvore, and thought I'd share my entry with you here. The brief was to 'Create a home set showing us how you would style your fantasy dream closet.' Here are a few items I picked.

I love creating sets on Polyvore, there are so many items to choose from, and the search function is so easy to use. If you know what kind of item you're looking for you can search and be met with hundreds of sources of inspiration.

You can follow my Polyvore account here.

What would you have in your dream closet?

Top 5 Spring Tips

So , spring is officially here and in London , we've been experiencing many sunny intervals ( along with random showers) but never the less , here a few tips to help you get ready this spring.
Spring tips

1) Stick with pastels.
When painting nails , its best not to use heavy colours. Stick with light colours such as pastels.
some of my favorites:

top-shop pastels
2)Defeat the heat!
Invest in a moisturiser BB cream or CC cream that contains an spf
This will help reduce the darkening of blemishes and will prevent premature aging.
protect
3) keep those eyebrows at bay!
Its best to keep make-up light especially eyebrows.
Top tip: Used light short strokes when filling in eyebrows to give them a natural look.
Use a lighter eye-pencil / powder to reduce harsh lines.

No slugs please

4) Lighten up
Many people like lightening their hair in the spring - well I know I do.
One way to do this by creating minimal damage is by using lemon.
Lemon has lightening agents and can be used to lighten hair as well as blemishes.
Step 1: Mix lemon and honey into your conditioner.
Step 2: Apply to hair and leave in for 15-20 minutes
Step 3: Wash out well and apply a moisturiser.
step 4: Repeat this weekly
(Your hair will gradually lighten over the course of 5 weeks)

Lighten

5) Pins out!
Around spring time , the weather is warm enough to be rocking out skirts and shorts. However, you might want to prep your legs first. I cant promise you perfection , but I can promise you something very close.
Here are some tips when you are shaving your legs:

tip 1) shave your legs in the shower. the steam opens up the pores making it easier for hair removal.
tip 2) Always use a new blade. Old ones could cause cuts and infections.
tip 3) Moisturise your legs. Get your legs gleaming by moisturising them regularly.

Do you have any tips for this spring? If you do , I would love to know. Please comment down below =]
